This year, we are honoring the passing of Dale Hodson. Long-time Board Member and outstanding Drosselmeyer, Dale Hodson’s generosity to ECB and to students in need has prompted us to establish our first-ever named scholarship fund.
In keeping with Dale’s commitment to ECB’s mission of making professional dance training accessible to anyone, the Dale Hodson Scholarship will be for students of outstanding ability and limited means, regardless of background or financial ability.
Dale performed the coveted role of Herr Drosselmeyer in our annual performance of the Nutcracker, The King in Cinderella and Prime Minister in The Sleeping Beauty, among other roles.
Dale looked at the whole picture of a young person’s trajectory. He supported training costs. He paid cell phone bills so a dancer at a distant summer program could call home. Dale was the kind of patron every dance company dreams of: a lover of dance, understanding the vital role of the operations, administration and production in making art happen, and a sympathetic champion of worthy individuals. Not to mention a consummate performer!
